Oystercatchers...

I was down on the docks the other day and in
among the containers an oystercatcher had
laid three eggs in a little dusty hollow. The
dockers had put cones around to prevent other
containers being put there.

A couple of days later I was there again and
they'd hatched. Three oystercatcher chicks
running around - brilliant.

For the size of bird, btw, the eggs looked
huge...

When did you see nature at work in an
unlikely location?

Wow - wouldn't you think she'd want to hatch
it out away from them rocks? If one of them
legs gives way could be a problem...

(Really good picture, Bert...)

i keep tropical fish and my son wanted a tank
of his own so i set one up for him and off we
went to buy some fish. i wanted to buy him
some easy to look after ones and bought him 6
mollys, when we got home i got out the bag of
mollys from the box in the boot to find one
had given birth to 8 babies.
