depends wat type ov metal it is, it happened
on an old escort i had years ago, the shield
broke off the catalyst, i gave a fella in a
garage a couple ov quid to braze it back on,
saved me a few hundred quid an lasted the
time i had the car..

its above the exhaust to wait till it cools
and give a gentle few taps with a hammer...

mind the exhaust as its on rubbers that keep
it form vibrating....

a screwdriver can lever it back into
position....

or as i did, RIP IT OFF, then get back on the
M5....

We had a problem with heat shields on our
Ford ST170... twice they were ordered by
Fords from Germany as they didn't have them
in the UK, pantented parts apprently.
Then the second one when ordered after the
other buckled, was the wrong part so had to
be re-orded. Took 6 weeks.

Still wasn't right and still rattled, but
Fords didn't want to know and just left it as
'a minor issue with the shield
fitting'.

its probably warped, bend or hit it back to
shape..

if it has a cat fitted dont rip it off, it
could set you car on fire...
