HIV is a virus that comes from the same
strain of virus found in some primates
species in Africa...Simian Immunodeficiency
Virus... virus naturally mutate and evolve to
spread and survive in other species... are we
not primates?... how it passed from ape to
man is a mystery, some say from beastiality,
some say from eating apes.
The virus has invaded my cells and
incorporated its rna/dna into my DNA. Is it
ok for me to sleep with a woman who is
positive? If our two strains mutate, is our
life expectancy shortened?
Thw ape shagging thing has been largely
discredited I think. Not that anyone really
takes reports by The Sun, the fountain of
knowledge that it is, all that seriously in

I have a friend who is a drugs counsellor ,
he advises people on how to quit hard drugs.
And he was telling me that some of his
clients ate intravenous drug users who are
HIV positive , the drug user is aware that
they are HIV positive and their partner
doesnt know............and he has unprotected
sex with her!!!!!!!!!!!
The drug councillor is powerless to do
anything . How can a person who knows that
they have HIV......have unprotected sex with
someone they supposedly love ????

By this statement, are you saying that in
your opinion HIV is not the cause of AIDS?
Because thats not what the Independent
article claims at all.
It says,in essence, that the spread of AIDS
outside of sub saharan africa is largely
confined to high risk groups.I don't think
any serious researcher or epidemiologist
would contest the mounting evidence now
pointing to this, although just because the
disease is mostly confined to high risk
groups does not mean that it could never be
passed within the heterosexual population
through unprotected sex.
Nowhere however does it suggest that HIV is
not the causative agent of AIDS
The overwhelming scientific evidence gathered
over several decades of intensive research
confirm that HIV is integral in the
development of AIDS.
As to the origin of HIV, there are lots of
similarities between certain strains of SIV
and HIV 1 and 2, too many to be discounted.
There are several theories as to how SIV
crossed species and became HIV, ranging from
conspiracy theory to transmission via the
oral polio vaccine. The most likely theory
supported by epidemiological evidence
gathered to date would suggest the "hunter"
theory, where blood from the butchered animal
entered the human hunters circulation through
a wound site or whatever.
A Lancet study in 2004 demonstrated that
retorviruses are still being passed this way.
1099 individuals in the Cameroonwere
surveyed,and 1% were infected with Simian
Foamy Virus, which, like SIV, was thought to
infect primates only. All these infections
were thought to have been contracted through
the butchering and consumption of monkey and
ape meat.
I think you need to spend less time on the
HIV denialism forums rebel, and more time
following the science.
The support amongst the scientific community
for a cause of AIDS other than HIV has
declined markedly in recent years and is
declining ever more rapidly, not increasing,
as you claim.Note I say amongst the
scientific community, rather than the
internet community, which is a different
animal entirely.
Again, contrary to the claim in one of your
posts,HIV tests have been validated, and the
HIV has been isolated and shown how it
attacks the T-cell.
You are correct that STDs are increasing
amongst heterosexual populations, in itself a
cause for concern.It just shows what damage
unprotected sex can do. The fact that these
diseases are increasing whilst development of
AIDS is flat does not invalidate the fact
that HIV causes AIDS however.
AIDS is increasing in homosexual populations
,and the Independent article you yourself
quoted suggests that AIDS is still of real
concern amongst high risk groups (Homosexual
males, IV Drug Abusers ). The reason it is
particularly prevelant amongst the sub
saharan population (homosexual, heterosexual,
IV drug abusers or otherwise) may have a lot
to do with genetic factors - Some recent
research suggests that the Duffy gene may
play a big part in susceptibility to the
virus, the null variant being much more
likely to contact the virus. The null variant
is almost exclusively found amongst those of
african descent, and is rather ironically
thought to be a defence against malaria.

are factual or evidence based.. or true
Spend some time working in the NHS and then
try to say HIV isn't real...
Speak to people who have lost people to
HIV/Aids and then say it isn't very real.
Talk to somebody who had HIV and then say it
isn't real.
For something that isn't such a worry to
health... there has sure been millions who
have been infected and have died because of
it... Also there is billions of pounds being
spend on researching it and hoping to find
better treatments and hopefully a cure one
day.... because it is effect all areas of

I'm not your mate so don't call me that, you
were unlucky enough to be infected with HIV,
but lucky enough to be one of the very few,
that seem to be a virus carrier, where the
virus hasn't attacked the immune system, yes
it does happen where few will never get the
later stages of HIV... that would kill them
without medications... a very few...
The millions who have died due to HIV, speak
for itself.. and the millions that haven't
died now because of the medications also
speak for themselves... and that fact that
1000s are still dieing due to HIV in Africa,
because their government mostly will not pay
for the medication to stop the virus
progression also speaks for itself.
Are you medically trained? For somebody
unlucky enough to have HIV, I'm surprised of
you lack of factual knowledge on it, I'm glad
you have the sense to use condoms, you can
still infect others with HIV, some people
have even been imprisoned for murder, for
infecting people when they knew they were HIV

HIV is very real.... we still have no cure,
just a way to control it from progressing, a
way to stop it fully destroying your immune
system...
Also remember HIV is not just passed through
sexual contact, many have been infected
through dirty needles, and 1000s were
infected with blood transplants from the
80s-90s.. where they didn't screen for HIV.
As for insults, you have know idea how angry

and very bad advice... do not believe

Health and illness is very diverse and it
differs from person to person.. what has

No, I never said africans are getting
infected with HIV through drug use, you need
to read things better.. One of the main
problems in Africa is that their is very
little education about aids, and many people
in Africa do not believe in modern medicine,
and will not listen to the real facts...

Prostitution is a big factor in Africa, they
are poor and it is a way to make money, also
rape is a big factor in Africa... people are
infected and are still infecting others..
many people are not even screened their.. and
the virus is just passed from one to

The virus is passed through a family, females
infected and still having children, who are
born infected... just read about the
orphanages in Africa, infected children,
who's whole families have been wiped out due
to HIV.
Well I'm glad for you, you are one of the
few, who only carry the virus, and it hasn't
progressed, but as I say you are one of the
few, and you are still a risk to others, who
may not be as lucky.
You however shouldn't go around telling
people HIV information isn't wrong, that is
cant kill and that the medication isn't
required... if you do people will die..
It is pointless saying anything more to you,
you live in your own bubble of misinformed
beliefs, as I say all cases are different..
and you seem to want to believe what you wish

Not everybody infected are as lucky, I should
know I worked in health-care areas and seen
the real facts on HIV and the devastation to
lives it can cause.
Any medications can have terrible side
effects, however for some people, to stay
alive.. they don't have a choice.
Because it isn't HIV that kills you, you can
carry the virus a long time, years, before it
will effect you immune system, and then it
will be other infections, or cancers ... that
your body can not fight and it will be that
that kills you.
Also 5 to 10 % of patients own immune system
can control the virus, keep it under control,
it cant get rid of it fully.. but can stop it
progressing to the point the immune system is
wiped out.
Not all people need medications, not when
their body is coping, that is why regular
blood checks are important.
Rebel, don't presume to know what you are
talking about when you refer to causes of
death in Africa. People die there from a
whole host of preventable and treatable
things. They die from taking fake drugs, no
drugs, local witch doctor's potions,
combinations. They die from lack of money and
misdiagnosis. etc etc.
AIDS mutates. In the early days before AIDS
had a name people were dying from
tuberculosis, or pneumonia. They were the
cause of death but the person would not have
died if they did not have this other unnamed
disease going on at the same time.

A few scientist theories does not make up for
the evidence based research that has started
to give a good understanding to HIV.
See that is the misconception of HIV and
Aids. HIV is the virus, all AID is, is a term
first used for when the immune system stops

I wonder how many deaths could of been
prevented if people hadn't believed in

Some peoples beliefs can cause more harm that
good.
You forget when you was first diagnosed, even
the Doctors didn't fully understand HIV, 20
years on and now HIV is understood.
You cant go on what was said when knowledge
and research was limited.
Many of the third world countries, are
greatly effect by HIV because they lack the
education on it.. and their mostly corrupt
governments are more interested in the rich
and fighting meaningless wars... than funding
help for their people... there is more deaths
in those countries due to HIV and less deaths
due to HIV the western world... simply
because of treatments available and education

oh rebel, the HIV test looks for the virus in
the blood, when present you are diagnosed as
HIV positive...after that you are regularly
blooded tested to check your CD4(lymphocytes
which attack foreign bodies and viruses)
count, which is what binds with antibodies,
when your body is trying to fight HIV, this
is monitored for the progression of the
virus.. when the count drops, you are at more
risk of infections. They also check for the
viral load in the blood basically how much of
the HIV virus is present in the blood.
So your concept of the HIV tests just looking
for antibodies is wrong... the initial test
looks for the actual presence of the virus.

As for them not finding a cure for AIDS and
HIV because it doesnt exist, I think there is
no cure for cancer, but I'm very sure that
exists.
Black people were enslaved by black people as
well as white.
White people (from scandinavia) were enslaved

journey and took whole villages away.
White people of today are not to blame for
