I'm the co-author of a new nostalgia book
from Prion. It's a humorous book that doesn't
do the usual fond reminiscing over the past,
rather it takes the angle of recalling how
crap a lot of things were. Hence the name:
The Crap Old Days

I understand what you're saying and a lot of
people feel very fondly about the past, of
course. In the intro of the book we
acknowledge that this isn't surprising -
given the state of the modern world, which is
quite frankly pretty bleak.
But every nostalgia book is about gentle and
pleasant reminiscing, so we wanted to do
something different, ie take the mickey out
of the rubbish bits of the past.
If you've found the site click on the "Sample
Entries" in the right sidebar, that should
give you an idea of what we're about. Having
a bit of a laugh at the past's expense, in
essence.
