The first and only car I have ever bought was
a VW Scirocco. I bought it cos my b/f was
skint and i had just had a college grant
through. I cant drive. £60 or £70 it cost in
about 1993. Maroon, bucket seats n alloys,
bla bla bla. The guy who owned it before me
had a jack russel and the car was full of dog
hair. Took the carpet out and scrubbed it.
Put it back and b/f took it for a spin. Only,
he had forgotten to bolt down the passenger
seat after putting the carpet back, and I
ended up in the back seat, with my legs in
the air. All part of his cunning plan no
doubt.
Sold it about 3 months later in bits, wheels,
tyres, bits from the engine etc and got about
£300 back llf. I love a bargain.
no paps, the horn never worked, along with
the back brakes and the hand brake, when i
turned on the spot lights that were sunk into
the spoiler i had this flame effect smokey
feature from the dash board..
There seem to be a lot of "first cars" about
in this town. Lots with stripes over the
bonnet or along the side. One particularly
gawjuss(my @rse) one is a black thing with
lime green stripes over the bonnet roof and
boot and a big fish tail at the back thats
made of shiny metal with holes in, blacked
out windows and a fat noisy exhaust. Loadsa
boy racers here and living next to the main
road is not great.

Everybody I knew made fun of my car, because
they said it was funny looking. Of course
everybody I knew back then was in the Navy
and that's kind of funny too.
I called my car La Bumba, and when I took La
Bumba to to the Beach ,the Isl. Of Palms in
South Carolina ,all the collage girls loved
La Bumba because he was so cute !
No, I called him La Bumba because I thought
it was a cool name for the car. And I made
some very cool friends because of that
car.Spent week end on the campus too.The car
belonged where all my critics did not !
To each, his or her own indiviual path ! As
the saying goes, one collage leads to
another. Influences make the diference!La
Bumba is and was the best car I ever ownned
